Washington Township, MI Job Description Principal Product Engineer Hardware (2 Positions in Washington Township) Within the ECS Steering Engineering Department, responsibilities for this Principle level Product Engineer position include hardware to vehicle application attending and presentation information to the customer at design reviews responsible for the testing of ECU's in the US (EMC and Non-EMC) Coordinate and / or participate in all customer vehicle builds/ demonstrations and evaluation trips Read and understand electrical schematics and PCBs Generate and oversee product DFMEA, DVP&R and product specification.
Some travel may be required to the UK for training.
This includes the management of tasks to customer milestones and deadlines.
Qualifications:

years of automotive experience working with automotive ECUs experience with 32-bit automotive microcontrollers (such as TI TMS470 family, Freescale MPC families, Infineon XC (16-bit) and TC families or similar) Familiarity with micro-electronics industry trends and best practices (continuous improvements, zero defect, etc.
) Exposure to AEC-Q100 standards familiarity with manufacturing and testing standards experience using typical development tools (e.
g.
JTAG interface standard, flash programming) working with CANape Working knowledge of typical electronics laboratory environment (oscilloscopes, function generators, prototype circuit Development, etc.
) Excellent communication and networking skills computer literate utilizing data Spreadsheets, word processing, analysis tools such as MathCAD, PSPICE, etc.
Supplemental skills include experience developing code for embedded applications Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification:
Electrical Power Assisted Steering knowledge preferred but not necessary.
Any chassis electronic Module knowledge expected.
Education:
Minimum of bachelor degree in electrical engineering or related field.
