Senior OnStar Operations Engineer:

OnStar Operations Engineer Position Overview:
Maintain daily operations to minimize impact to performance metrics in OnBoarding, Network Operations and Core Service areas.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems with OnStar sustain teams.
Define, develop and implement monitors with input from other teams to measure performance.
Execute release plans, as needed, for new OnStar application releases.
Solve engineering related problems and create alternative solution to ensure continued operation.
Manage Batch performance and continue to develop improvements in the area of ease of use, and functionality.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coordinate operational activities and system level readiness for new service offerings.

Develop new techniques in problem solving level 3 support issues.
:
Work as a liaison between Operations team and IT department to ensure high performance levels for OnStar subscribers and services.
:
Assist in requirement definition for IT systems related to operational needs.
:
Lead team to generate operational solutions for current and future initiatives.
:
Manage operational support activities related to system issues.
:
Develop, coordinate and execute deployment plans.
:
Act as lead subject matter expert for responsible systems.
:
Operational support per on call schedule.
:
Develop solutions (fixes/alternative work flows) to address the performance issues :
Participate in planning for issue resolution activities and execution of the plans with key and other stakeholders :
Fully understand and document business process flows for new services :
Develop performance metrics/reports/monitors to establish necessary visibility into new service launch :
Drive design/process related discussions with development teams Qualifications Required Skills and
Experience:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related degree or equivalent experience :
Minimum 5 - 8 years' experience in an operational role.

High level of oral and written communication skills :
Strong understanding of operational procedures, protocols and communication paths.
:
Strong understanding of application architecture and design principles related to system integration of client components, web services, and databases.
:
Strong using and interacting with relational database structures (Oracle databases) :
Strong understanding of SQL and SQL development :
Strong with UNIX/ORACLE developments skills to build end to end process/systems automation and integration (batch load, cron, etc) :
Sound organizational skills to prioritize work to be executed :
Sound communication and presentation skills to deliver status updates and progress against objectives to the management Source:
