Financial services firm in western suburbs is seeking a experience Controller to join their team.
The Controller is responsible for directing the work of assigned Accounting staff, summarizing and interpreting client financial data for use by management, clients, and funding authorities, as well as, developing workpapers, and protecting clients assets.
Responsibilities include:
Review of support staff's workpapers, including review notes and completion of review notes.
Budget preparation, including meetings with the client.
Insurance policy review including working with the insurance agent for additions and deletions.
Approving all bank transfers that are not done in the normal course of operations, such as debit cards and petty cash accounts.
Pension plan review and reconciliation, if applicable.
Manage the audit.
Prepare communications to payroll tax authorities.
Prepare cost settlements/reports, if applicable.
Prepare federal tax form 5500, if applicable.
Assist in and review the preparation of federal tax form 990.
Prepare the charitable trust/license to solicit paperwork, and any other external financial reporting requirements related to tax:
exempt organizations.
Review the financial statements and prepare the supporting disclosure notes.
Prepare special project assignments per management's direction.
Conduct quarterly client team meetings to share pertinent information.
Prepare minutes from the meetings which are shared with the attendees and management.
Requirements include:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CPA and/or MBA.

profit experience preferred.
Experienced in workpaper preparation and general ledger management.
Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, monthly reporting, financial statement preparation and audit coordination.
Strong computer and organizational skills, proficient with Microsoft Office and accounting software.
