Department Summary

The Work Scheduler (Maintenance & Construction) position supports Energy Operations and requires monitoring, planning and scheduling of electric workload, working with union employees, Field Leaders, Team Leaders, Statewide Planning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsibility involves coordination of materials with Supply Chain, coordination of equipment and vehicles with Fleet Services, the assigning and tracking workload, interpreting monthly work plans when creating weekly schedules, conducting weekly meetings, and supporting the storm operations.
  • Additional responsibilities will include supporting the CE Way through problem solving and waste elimination initiatives.
  • Storm support is also a requirement of the role and may include dispatching / ARCOS support / wire guard support, or any other tasks needed to support storm operations.
  • Employee will be required to become proficient with OMS (Outage Management Systems) and any other additional storm support systems as needed.
  • This position also requires excellent communication skills, customer service, teamwork, the ability to understand order types, capital and O&M, Excel skills, and the ability to create and present PowerPoint presentations.

This position will be located at the Grand Rapids, Michigan Service Center and may involve travel to statewide service centers for meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma OR GED.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage individual workload.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree.
  • College level courses or a degree in a scientific or technical field.
  • Electric Utility experience.
  • Operations scheduling experience.
  • SAP (back office) and CRM7 (front office).
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite:
    Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Storm support experience.

Essential Functions

  • Performs technical support functions and more complex tasks including establishing workload and organizing and conducting assignments according to deadlines.
  • Provides backup department support.
  • Prepares reports as directed from time to time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Under general direction, prepares special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other areas of the Company, etc.
  • Ensures that requests for action or information are relayed to appropriate staff members; ensures that information is furnished in a timely manner; decides whether a higher authority should be notified of important or emergency matters.

Hours and Travel

  • Meet travel requirements of the position.
  • Work a flexible schedule, as needed for storm restoration and scheduling coverage which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
