Department Summary

This position is within the Circuit Planning group for Low Voltage Distribution (LVD).
This group is responsible for the planning responsibilities for the electric distribution facilities.
This position includes both office and field responsibilities for the performance of the electric distribution circuits.
This encompasses electric planning, project management, reliability programs, customer concern resolution, and storm restoration responsibilities.

Job Description/Responsibilities

The type of work performed would be of a complex level of tasks of a technical/scientific nature, without direct supervision, as well as responding to complex customer inquiries (in person or via phone).
The Circuit Planner s responsibilities are comprised of two main areas of 1) Customer Advocacy and 2) System Planning and Performance solutions.
Tasks include identifying and developing system planning and reliability improvement solutions, economic evaluation of planning and reliability solutions, preparing scope drawings for projects, analyzing system power flow (voltage and load), developing and coordinating load transfers plans, investigating and resolving customer reliability and voltage concerns, updating customers on the status of projects, and assisting in the Company's storm restoration process.

The selected candidate will distill multiple sources of technical and policy information and make decisions on complex system planning and system performance problems.
The employee in this position anticipates the impact of actions and/or decisions on multiple systems and customers at large.
The selected candidate generally follows standardized practices and procedures without guidance from higher-level employees.
However, this position is expected to adapt and resolve issues utilizing creative thinking, investigation, and ingenuity beyond the normal practices and procedures.

The selected candidate will interact with internal and external clients, customers and crews giving and

receiving complex information.
Candidate need to be able to convey projects scopes, timeliness, and resolve potential issues that may arise with others.
This position is expected to manage customer expectations when resolving complex system performance issues, as well as effectively sharing system improvement plans to customers at large.
The selected candidate also manages, communicates and resolves customer complaints.
Also, the selected candidate must be capable of training lower level employees.

In addition, the Circuit Planner may act as a proxy for their supervisor.
In this capacity they will act as leads on Company Initiatives and be the primary contact in the supervisor s absence.

This position will be largely focused on evaluation of LVD system configuration with an emphasis on load transfer capability.
The load transfer capability is accomplished through automated devices or manual switches.
This position develops plans to target selected circuits that will maximize benefits of the planned deployments.
This includes recommending areas for LVD Circuit Planner review.
This position will provide subject matter expert support to Electric Operations, LVD Planning, and Electric Project Management.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferable with power option) from an ABET accredited university.
  • Strong analytical skills, good oral and written communication skills and customer relations skills
  • Must be willing and able to follow instructions, assist in the training of co-workers
  • Ability and initiative to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Professional engineering license is preferred
  • Previous engineering experience preferred
  • Previous knowledge of load transfer analysis and automation devices are preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Previous customer experience is a plus
  • Participate in storm restoration activities across the state is an expectation.
    The candidate will need to remain flexible due to short notice of request and potential overnight stays in other regions.

This position is open to electric headquarter locations where there is space available.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
